Dear Brother Greg,
Politicians’ disdain for law, the massively mounting national debt, the sinking welfare of the working class, the impotence of Congress, the sycophants in both parties, the misleading anti-American lies flooding the internet, and the gullibility of the average American these days ARE SYMPTOMS of a deeper problem that must be cured if we are ever to be rid of these symptoms and realize what the American Plan promises.
Goodness is being kicked to the curb by fools who “know not what they do”. Honor is pushed aside, because it gets in the way of marketing schemes. Order is considered inconvenient. Courts are despised. Rebellion is on the rise.
Though attacking these symptoms seems the proper and immediate thing to do, WISDOM advises us to cure the cause of those symptoms and to do so with all our efforts, to rid ourselves of the greatest of our problems: IGNORANCE of the Principles of American Justice that should be guiding our leaders and ourselves at this critical hour in our nation’s ongoing history.
Ignorance of what’s right and kind and beneficial and prudent. Ignorance entranced with demands of the moment that have no thought of the clearly foreseeable consequences down the road. Ignorance that could have been avoided years ago by putting Legal Education in our schools. Ignorance that now must be addressed and remediated with expedience!
Read George Washington’s Farewell Address. You can find PDF versions using Google®. Read it. Print it. Share it with everyone you care about!
What you read in Washington’s Farewell Address is WISDOM. It is wisdom of a bygone age that needs to be restored. Wisdom widely venerated in that age when Reality was all too Real, when men did not dwell in fantasies but dealt with the necessities of the day and planned for a better future for their children and a better present for those they loved and were eager to sacrifice for, knowing love must sometimes sacrifice.
In this age where you see evil thriving where goodness ought to be, even “Love” is twisted into little more than “what pleasure can I get out of this?” The idea of sacrifice is shunned, unpleasant, unnecessary. The consequence is the foreseeable circumstance we now see playing out in Washington, in the streets and alleys of our cities, in the offices on Wall Street, in the mounting divorce rate, in the media entertainment we allow ourselves to be fed on a daily basis, media we allow our children to digest and be altered by to their ultimate loss … disillusionment, anger, drugs, tattoos, alcohol, suicide.
I share your angst about the tyranny in high places, but I beg you to see it as the symptom, not the cause.
I further beg you to WORK with me in whatever little we may do together to lift a Lamp for others to see there is good beyond the darkness, to promote that good while we may still do so.
That good is well-defined. It was common knowledge in the 18th Century for those who gathered at Philadelphia to launch this holy experiment we call the United States of America. We can recover that good. We must recover it!
Let us learn from each other. Let our learning empower us to enlighten others, inviting them to share with us the labor of lifting the Lamp of Liberty by promoting greater understanding of The Rule of Law and the principles of due process that can and must make civilization the positive, prospering, peaceful experience it can be for each and every one of us … once we succeed in restoring the sacred landmarks and fixed lighthouses needed to GUIDE OUR PEOPLE UPWARD!
