Anchor of our shared hope.
Abused, ignored, torn, besmirched, attacked, and violated in every nation that has fallen into ruin.
The Rule of Law fastens our faith as nothing else for those whose faith has not yet failed them.
Without it we are wanderers, each seeking to satisfy his or her independent will apart from the needs of others, separated from the burden of obedience, without regard for those things we only can enjoy when we work together in harmony to create them.
The Rule of Law is more than “law” or “laws”.
It is a moral construct that has guided courageous millions over hundreds of centuries to erect vast empires of nations and states to provide for the welfare of their families and loved ones who always fall prey to the tyranny that waits eagerly for the open door that indolence and ignorance hold wide for its perpetual attempts to rule us all with a merciless military hand.
It finds its way through the meandering fields of conquest and adventure by the benefit of landmarks that were set for us by bygone generations who knew the necessity of fixed rules that all mankind can cherish and abide by, rules we in this generation dare not forget, ignore, or devalue.
It is not “the rule of man”.
It is The Rule of Law.
Its landmarks of wisdom point us toward fixed principles by which we can establish and, when necessary, re-establish just republics secured by power-constraining constitutions. It is then the noblest enterprise of all, opening wide unlimited vistas of opportunity for every human soul, relieving the oppressed, providing order, securing liberty and justice for absolutely everyone.
To lose it is social suicide, capitulation of everything we now hold dear but far too often take for granted.
To evade it is cowardice, the badge of a traitor, the cruelest of mankind’s foolishness.
To cherish it is pure patriotism in the highest degree.
To teach it and promote its sacred benefits for others is the duty of all who would enjoy its blessings.
